The Lyon Botanical Garden has got involved in several local flora preservation actions within the framework of strategies developped by the establishments that are in charge of threatened species protection at the national level (the National Botanical Conservatoires). The Lyon Botanical Garden has several roles :
Viola cheiranthifolia Humb. & Bonpl.
Floristic and in situ conservation Floristic inventories, data checking about endangered species, seeds harvests in natural stations, and following of natural stations.
Ex situ conservation Ex situ preservation actions as cultivating plants in the botanical garden, germination tries for the seeds, making protocols for ex situ culture, germination of seeds (dormancy release) and cultural techniques, seeds stock.
Information
Educational action to inform the public about what threatens the floristic patrimony and what is made to avoid these threats in the region. Several actions are considered such as showing cultivated endangered plants in order to give to the sites’ managers a tool that helps them in deciding and recognizing.
