Lyon Botanical Garden
| The Botanical garden of Lyon is an living museum where the full diversity of the plant-life of our planet is housed. A haven in the heart of the city, the visitor-friendly area enables people to relax while they discover the wide variety of the numerous collections of plant life spread out over 8 hectares of gardens, including 6,500 m² of greenhouses. Approximately 15,000 different types of plant-life are thus protected, amongst them, endangered species. |

| The aim of the Botanical garden of Lyon is to inform the general public, ad heighten their awareness of the biodiversity of the plant kingdom. Its numerous collections of plant-life have an exceptional educational potential, which enables the public to become more and more aware of environmental preoccupations, sustainable development and the preservation of biological diversity. |

| Working along with other bodies (charities, botanical conservatories), the Botanical Garden takes an active part in the preservation of rare and endangered species, be they local or from accross the world. Furthermore, the garden constantly updates the taxonomy of all its plants, carries out botanical and horticultural expertise reports, and develops farming methods which are more adapted to rare and delicate species. |
